Story
The story of Prosecco is woven through both history and legend, dating back to ancient times. In the writings of Pliny the Elder from the 1st century A.D., it is said that Empress Livia, wife of Emperor Octavian Augustus, enjoyed a long life thanks to the legendary virtues of a wine known as Pucino. Historians have traced the production of this famed wine to the region that now encompasses Trieste, particularly the area of Prosecco.
This ancient anecdote has been echoed throughout history, lending prestige to the tradition of Prosecco. By the 16th century, this noble wine had become a prized offering. Every year, Trieste presented 100 “Orne” of the finest Prosecco to the Austrian sovereigns, a tribute that honored a longstanding agreement dating back to September 20, 1382.

The modern journey of Vivero Prosecco began with a desire to bring an authentic, premium Italian sparkling wine to the U.S. market. While searching for the perfect product, the founders of Masu Beverages embarked on a trip to Venice, where they reconnected with their long-time friend Fabio, the owner of a renowned winery in the Veneto region. Their shared love for exceptional wines reignited a deeper exploration into Italy’s Prosecco heartland.
Fabio introduced them to a selection of special vineyards, where the terroir and climate create the ideal conditions for growing the finest Glera grapes. It was here, among these extraordinary vines, that the founders discovered the key to crafting Vivero Prosecco—a sparkling wine that blends centuries of tradition with a modern touch of elegance, bringing the true essence of Italian heritage to life.
